This Seller Code of Conduct sets the practical standards BazaarCo expects every Seller, Store owner, merchant, brand, distributor, reseller, and seller-side representative to follow when using the Platform.
It applies alongside the binding Seller Agreement, Seller Policy, Terms and Conditions, Product Listing Rules, Prohibited Products Policy, Return and Refund Policy, Reviews and Ratings Guidelines, and Intellectual Property Policy.
1. Sell Lawful, Genuine, and Safe Products
Sellers must:
- offer only products that are lawful to advertise, store, transport, and sell in Nepal;
- sell genuine, lawfully sourced, and properly authorized products;
- avoid counterfeit, replica, pirated, stolen, expired, unsafe, or recalled goods; and
- maintain any approvals, registrations, warnings, labels, licenses, or documents required for the products they sell.
2. Keep Listings Accurate and Honest
Sellers must ensure that listings are clear, current, and not misleading.
This means:
- titles, descriptions, images, videos, prices, specifications, and variations must match the actual item offered;
- stock information should be reasonably accurate;
- warranty, return, size, compatibility, age restriction, and condition disclosures must be truthful; and
- promotional language must not exaggerate product qualities or hide material limitations.
3. Fulfill Orders Reliably
Sellers are expected to fulfill accepted orders responsibly and on time.
Sellers must:
- maintain realistic inventory for live listings;
- pack products securely and hand them over within the promised timeline;
- avoid unnecessary cancellations or dispatch delays;
- provide accurate fulfillment or handover information where required; and
- ensure that the delivered item, quantity, variation, and included accessories match the order.
4. Treat Buyers Fairly
Sellers must deal fairly and professionally with Buyers before, during, and after a sale.
Sellers must not:
- mislead Buyers about availability, price, delivery, warranty, or authenticity;
- deny legitimate support, replacement, or refund obligations in bad faith;
- pressure Buyers into closing complaints improperly;
- blame couriers, BazaarCo, or customers dishonestly for Seller-caused issues; or
- use abusive, intimidating, threatening, or humiliating language.
5. Keep Transactions on BazaarCo
Orders originating on BazaarCo must be completed through BazaarCo unless BazaarCo expressly authorizes otherwise.
Sellers must not:
- direct Buyers to WhatsApp, Instagram, bank transfer, cash collection, or other off-platform payment channels to avoid fees or oversight;
- solicit side deals or reorder arrangements outside BazaarCo for the same transaction;
- use contact details obtained through BazaarCo for unrelated solicitation; or
- divert Buyers away from BazaarCo to complete or repeat the transaction elsewhere.
6. Respect Returns, Refunds, and Buyer Protection
Sellers must comply with BazaarCo’s return, refund, cancellation, and buyer-protection rules.
This includes:
- cooperating with return or refund investigations;
- accepting valid claims where the product is defective, damaged, incorrect, incomplete, expired, counterfeit, or materially misdescribed;
- honoring genuine replacement, exchange, and after-sales obligations; and
- providing requested records or evidence promptly when BazaarCo investigates a claim.
7. No Fraud, Abuse, or Manipulation
Sellers must not engage in conduct that distorts marketplace trust, payments, rankings, or transactions.
Prohibited conduct includes:
- fake orders, sham transactions, or fabricated delivery activity;
- payment abuse, refund abuse, chargeback abuse, or collusion;
- bribery, kickbacks, or improper inducements;
- account sharing designed to evade restrictions;
- manipulating traffic, rankings, campaigns, or conversion metrics; and
- bypassing BazaarCo’s compliance, moderation, or risk controls.
8. No Fake Reviews or Rating Manipulation
Sellers must not manipulate customer feedback.
This includes:
- posting or arranging fake reviews, ratings, or testimonials;
- reviewing your own products through personal, employee, affiliate, or proxy accounts;
- asking for positive reviews in exchange for refunds, discounts, gifts, or benefits;
- threatening or pressuring Buyers to remove or change negative reviews; and
- attacking competitors through false or coordinated negative feedback.
Review-related behavior is governed further by the Reviews and Ratings Guidelines.
9. Respect Intellectual Property and Brand Rights
Sellers must respect the intellectual property and commercial rights of others.
Sellers must not:
- use unauthorized trademarks, logos, copyrighted photos, packaging, manuals, or marketing content;
- copy another Seller’s branded content in a misleading way;
- imply false brand authorization or official distributorship; or
- sell items that infringe trademark, copyright, patent, design, or related rights.
10. Protect Customer and Platform Data
Any personal, order, pricing, or operational information accessed through BazaarCo must be handled responsibly.
Sellers must not:
- misuse customer phone numbers, addresses, or order information;
- sell, share, export, scrape, or repurpose customer data without authorization;
- contact customers for unrelated marketing without a lawful basis; or
- expose BazaarCo operational materials or non-public information improperly.
11. Maintain Ethical Business Conduct
Sellers are expected to conduct business with honesty, fairness, and respect for lawful labor and sourcing practices.
Sellers must not:
- engage in corruption, coercion, or deceptive commercial practices;
- source goods from unlawful or exploitative channels;
- use forced labor, bonded labor, or abusive labor practices in their supply chain; or
- ignore material product safety concerns once known.
12. Cooperate With BazaarCo Reviews and Investigations
When BazaarCo requests information related to product compliance, authenticity, sourcing, order fulfillment, complaints, or risk review, Sellers must cooperate in good faith.
This may include providing:
- business or identity documents;
- invoices, import papers, or authorization letters;
- product certificates or safety records;
- warranty documentation; or
- customer-service records relevant to a dispute.
Failure to cooperate may itself be treated as a policy violation.
13. Consequences of Violations
If a Seller breaches this Code, BazaarCo may take one or more actions depending on severity, frequency, and risk, including:
- warning the Seller;
- editing, hiding, pausing, or removing listings;
- limiting campaign or feature access;
- withholding payouts or imposing reserves;
- suspending fulfillment, selling, or messaging privileges;
- suspending or terminating the Seller account; or
- referring serious matters for legal, regulatory, payment-partner, or law-enforcement review where appropriate.
Serious violations such as counterfeit sales, product safety risks, fraud, off-platform poaching, data misuse, or repeated buyer harm may result in immediate restriction without prior notice.
14. Updates to This Code
BazaarCo may revise this Code of Conduct from time to time to reflect legal requirements, marketplace risk patterns, operational changes, or policy updates. The latest version will be posted on the Platform with the updated effective date.
